Creating a cake topper does not have to be difficult. In fact, it can be very easy depending on the type of topper you are creating but what makes it easiest is the tools and equipment you use to make it.
In this Blog, I am going to show you my go to tools and equipment for making cake toppers.

Here are my essential tools for making a cake topper which can also be found on this link.
Die Cut machine - Cricut - I use this to save myself the hassle and inaccuracy of using a scissors or working free hand. (There are other types of machines available too like a silhouette etc). A Cricut machine comes with some essential tools like a mat and a fine point blade which are more than adequate for making cake toppers.
Cricut Mat - This is used with the machine and usually comes with it.
Brayer - This is my favorite tool. I use it to stick my paper to my mat properly.
Card stock - There are many types of cardstock that can be used for cake toppers, the general rule is that the thicker it is the better. For example a 300gms glitter card cardstock will be perfect in making a 2D cake topper without the need for layering. To make a good range of cake toppers, you will need a good mix of different colors plain paper as well as glitter card cake toppers.
Glue - It is important to work with non water based glue like the Beacon Silicon 3 in 1 glue or Glitter art glue
Hot glue gun
Glue sticks
Wooden skewer or Acrylic sticks to attach to the cake topper.
These are the basic essentials of making a cake topper. You will still need to learn quite a few things like the basics of design space and how to design etc.
